Family Favorite – PORK CHOPS & ONIONS
ByThis is a family favorite. When I heard my daughter was coming to visit from Maine I picked up some pork chops and got out the electric skillet. I serve this with mashed potatoes, corn and lots of gravy. Mmmm Mmmm.
PORK CHOPS AND ONIONS
4 pork chops – any cut, boneless or not
1 TBSP oil
1 medium onion, cut into rings
2 cloves garlic
1 cup water
2 bouillon cubes
1 TBSP soy sauce
1 TSP each ginger and brown sugar
Brown the pork chops in oil, remove and set aside.
In the same skillet saute the onions and garlic. Add the bouillon cubes to the water in a microwave safe cup. Heat in microwave for 2 mins. Remove from microwave and add the soy sauce, ginger and brown sugar. Add this mixture to the skillet. Add the pork chops, cover and cook over low heat 15 to 20 mins. or until chops are fork tender. If desired thicken pan liquid. I thicken with 1/2 cup water and 2 TBSP corn starch. Or I add a pkg. brown gravy mix to 1 cup water, stir and add to the skillet. Serve chops topped with onions and gravy.
